Boraston Parish Newsletter - August 2026
Welcome to the Boraston Parish Late Meeting Summer newsletter.
For details on any of the subjects below please see the Parish Meeting website.

Seven Trent Water Mains Replacement
The mains replacement work has now been completed along the Cleobury Road to Burford and work has now commenced through the village starting at the T-Junction and working down towards the A456.
We will continue to have disruption and road closures until the end of September.
Highways, Road Safety, Potholes and Repairs
The Cornbrook ford damaged by a lorry is scheduled to be fixed in the coming weeks but no date yet given.
Highways have told us that they will repaint the road signs i.e. Slow and junction white lines on the Cleobury road over the summer; again escalated to our District Councillor as no progress.
We met with Highways to discuss safety issues around the Peacock junction onto the A456. The meeting was positive but as Highways are under staffed and limited budget any changes will be slow. West Mercia Police have performed, at our request, a road traffic survey and we await data that will influence Highways actions around the junction.
Potholes remain an issue and delays in fixing them mean the white lines marking the potholes are now mainly eroded. We have no information as to when they will be filled.
We have made a formal application to Shropshire Council to have the Boraston village green registered as a village green as we discovered it was not formally recognised as such. If successful, this will offer legal protection to the green.
We have discussed with Shropshire Highways if the Cleobury road should be upgraded to a B-Road. Their response is, based on traffic volumes the answer is "No" and they have re-assured us that this has no impact on signage or prioritisation of repairs to that road.
Planning
No update on the Burford proposed development
Shropshire Planning decided that Lower Middle Farm barn conversions were "Permissive Development" so planning permission was not required. We have gone back to Planning re-iterating our concerns over the entire site and are waiting a response.
We have also raised concerns with Shropshire Council Historic Environment team over the state of the Grade II* listed Lower Middle Farm farmhouse and again await a response.
The Old Granary planning was approved with no objections.
Footpaths and Bridleways
The first footpath loop is now fully cleared and signed.
Additional routes are now being cleared and signed.
Our thanks to the Parish Footpath partnership and all land owners who have made this possible.
Events
The Friends of Nash and Boraston churches are holding a Supper and Skittles evening at Dinthill Barn on Friday 7th September.
Parish Meeting
The next Parish Meeting will be held at the Peacock at 7pm on Tuesday 24th November at 7pm. Food and a quiz will follow the meeting. All Parishoners welcome.
Regards
Mike and Phil
